Trivia / Mashima HERO'S

Go To

  • Colbert Bump: Seeing how Fairy Tail has been Hiro Mashima's longest and most widely recognized series by the initial announcement of HERO'S, this manga has helped raise awareness of Mashima's other works, with Rave Master being mostly sidelined since its conclusion in 2005, and Edens Zero still being just under a year-and-a-half old at the time.
  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: Certain news articles discussing the manga have misspelled its title as HEROES, the plural form of "hero" rather than the singular possessive. To their credit, the official title was initially presented as HEROS, making it an easy typo.
  • Easter Egg: Beside the title of the manga being a pun on the author's name, the chapter title's also spell out his name when you take the first letter of each one.
  • Flip-Flop of God: The number of Mashima character cameos in Fairy Tail and EDENS ZERO led fans to speculate the idea of a shared universe between all of his series. Mashima immediately denied it, but added that it did give him something to consider for the future. In a later interview, Mashima revealed he was already considering a full Fairy Tail and Rave Master crossover series before working on EDENS ZERO, and considered including the third series much less early in its run.
  • Milestone Celebration: Mashima decided to use the story when he was approached by Weekly Shōnen Magazine to draw a manga celebrating the magazine's 60th anniversary of publication.
  • What Could Have Been: When Mashima came up with the idea for a crossover, he considered doing it much later during the run of EDENS ZERO, since it still wasn't a year old. He only reconsidered when coming up with an idea for Shōnen Magazine's Milestone Celebration.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: While all three series have anime adaptations, they each aired on different Japanese networks, which Mashima has said has become a serious roadblock to this crossover getting an anime adaptation.
  • Working Title: Hiro Mashima and his associates initially spelled the title without an apostrophe as HEROS. This is ironically the inverse situation to EDENS ZERO, which was tentatively spelled with an apostrophe as Eden's Zero.
