• The Artifact: The theme song's mention of the word "ideal" is supposed to refer to the show's original sponsor, Ideal Toys. One verse in particular feels tailor-made to promote the sale of Magilla toys:
  He's real, he's ideal, and he's awfully cute
  He's an ever-living doll in a monkey suit
• The Other Darrin: Howard Morris, Mr. Peebles' voice, left Hanna-Barbera in a dispute. He was replaced as the voice of Mr. Peebles with Don Messick.
• What Could Have Been: A musical comedy movie starring Magilla, Wally Gator, and Top Cat called A Night at the Ape-ra was pitched in 1991, but never made.
