Trivia / Made in Abyss

  • Acting for Two: In the original Japanese version, Misaki Kuno gives voice to both Faputa and her mother Irumyuui.
  • Ascended Fanon: When Akihito Tsukushi named the Lord of Dawn, he didn't have a particular romanization in mind. He settled for "Bondrewd" because that's how the fan translators decided to transliterate his name.
  • Cross-Dressing Voice:
    • Reg, Nat, Shiggy, Kiyui, and Marulk all have female VAs. It may or may not be the case for Nanachi too.
    • Despite being an adult male, Belaf is voiced in Japanese by Mitsuki Saiga, a female voice actress. However, given Saiga's very deep register, Belaf's voice comes as natural and fitting his feminine appearance.
  • Fandom Nod: One of the tracks from the Dawn of the Deep Soul movie is named "Rumble of Scientific Triumph", referencing a certain Unsound Effect used in an English fan translation of the manga.
  • He Also Did:
  • Playing Against Type: Yuka Terasaki, who usually performs roles of deep voiced females or young/teenage boys, plays Vueko (a meek, shy woman with a trembling, soothing voice) in the anime.
  • Sleeper Hit: Despite the manga having gained substantial popularity over time, the anime announcement didn't really make people unfamiliar with the source material that interested in it. But once the anime premiered, it was consistently one of the highest rated shows of the season from episode to episode. By the end of the anime run time, it had become the highest rated original non sequel anime of Summer 2017, and its pre-order sales in Japan shot up from 1000 to nearly 5000 copies in only a few days after the 1 hour season finale aired.
