• Channel Hop: Was originally developed for Disney+, but moved to Hulu before airing, reportedly over concerns of its content being more "adult" than they were anticipating. Disney+ would ultimately begin distributing the series alongside Hulu for season 3.
• Dawson Casting: Every actor is at least a few years older than the character they play, but most notable is 24 year-old Rachel Naomi Hilson playing 16 year-old Mia.
• Fake American: British actor George Sear plays Benji, who was born and raised in Creekwood, Georgia.
• Inspiration for the Work: Season 2’s subplot of Isabel forbidding Victor from coming out to Adrian out of fear that his brother is “too young” to understand was born out of the show-runners’ frustration towards Disney using a similar excuse to not include the show on their “family friendly” streaming platform.
• Playing Against Type: Ana Ortiz is known for playing The supportive mother of a gay son on Ugly Betty, while James Martinez played Elena’s homophobic father on One Day at a Time (2017). For Season 2, they switch roles, with Isabel having problems with Victor’s sexuality while Armando readily puts in the work to make Victor feel accepted at home.
