Trivia / Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade

Go To

  • First Appearance: The film served as the debut of Amanda, Constanze and Jasminka as well as Finnelan.
  • Meaningful Release Date: The Enchanted Parade was released to the general public on October 9, 2015. It was released in the same month as Halloween, which is very fitting for a series based on witches and magic.
  • Refitted for Sequel: The idea of a tomboyish Action Girl student and a student who used Magitek were considered as far back as the first film in the form of Samantha and Monica, respectively, but were both scrapped due to the team finding them to be unnecessary. While the characters in question never got use, a lot of their concepts would get reused for both Amanda and Constanze for both this film and later the TV series.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The Enchanted Parade was originally gonna have a subplot in which Diana would take over the parade herself and would have to get rescued by Akko after messing up. However, according to Yoh Yoshinari, this was cut out as he didn't want to put too much focus on Diana, preferring to keep the focus on the main trio instead. The idea of Akko having to rescue Diana would eventually get revisited in the TV series a couple of years later, though under completely different circumstances.
    • In the early planning stages, instead of The Enchanted Parade idea, the film was originally gonna resolve around the idea of familiars, with Akko finding herself with a dragon one as a way for them to continue the dragon idea from the first film. The artbook that came with the Blu-ray does feature concept art of this premise showcasing what her dragon familiar would had looked liked.
    • Another unused plotline instead of The Enchanted Parade plot, would have resolved around Akko getting framed and arrested for a crime she didn't commit, as well as expelled from Luna Nova and has to get the help of an wizard criminal to get her name cleared and prove her innocence, while also being on the run from both the law and even Luna Nova. According to the team, the reasoning for this plotline being dropped was that they felt it didn't fit the franchise's tone and that they couldn't fit it within their planned 50 minute runtime. The idea of Akko getting framed for a crime she didn't commit does become a minor subplot in the Keisuke Satō manga (for stealing the Shooting Star in episode 3, which was done by Amanda), but it was much more lighthearted and while Akko did get in trouble for it, she didn't get arrested for it.
    • Concept art for Amanda, Constanze and Jasminka reveals they had very different designs early on, with Amanda having a different hairstyle and carrying a guitar behind her, Constanze having braids and a more midget-like appearence and Jasminka looking pretty much like a different character altogether, looking far more slender with a completely very different hairstyle as well as having a more stoic expression compared to the final version of her.
  • Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: On July 3, 2015, the creators gave all Kickstarter backers a first look at The Enchanted Parade before its official release in October. They also told the backers not to go around sharing it on the internet in order to leave it a surprise. Guess what short film was readily found on the web days after its release?
  • Working Title: When the film's kickstarter campaign launched, it was simply referred to as Little Witch Academia 2.
