Trivia / Lingua Ignota

Go To

  • Bury Your Art: The version of her "Wicked Game" cover featuring Daughters' Alexis S.F. Marshall was removed from streaming in light of serious accusations of sexual and emotional abuse being made by her towards Marshall in 2021. A solo version was later released instead.
  • Creator's Favorite: She said that "I Am The Beast" is her favorite song on Caligula.
  • Creator Breakdown: Most of her music is based on her experiences with domestic violence; Sinner Get Ready in particular was made during a nearly-two-year relationship with Alexis S.F. Marshall, who she has accused of extensive emotional and sexual abuse which nearly drove her to suicide.
  • Creator Recovery: In 2022, she stated that she would be retiring the Lingua Ignota project and wanted to shift her musical work in a different direction, since the intense nature of the music (and its fundamental basis in her traumas) made it emotionally taxing to perform.
  • Friendly Fandoms: With Chelsea Wolfe, Nicole Dollanganger, The Body, Liturgy and other Alternative Metal acts.
  • In Memoriam: The lyrics to "I Who Bend The Tall Grasses" were partially based on the poem "Jesus" by Molly Brodak, who passed away in 2020. Hayter dedicated the song to her.
  • Reality Subtext: Saved!, her first album as Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter, starts off with two original songs: one about running away from your old life, and the other about abandoning your shitty hellbound friends. Considering that she had just left behind her old artist name and escaped what she attests to be an extremely abusive relationship, the songs are most likely a metaphor for trying to change her life for the better and move forward past old trauma.
  • She Also Did:
    • Established Perpetual Flame Ministries, a record label and art house collective.
    • She's also an equestrian, a sport she did in childhood that she recently decided to reconnect with. She occasionally posts photos and videos with her horses on Instagram.
  • Written-In Infirmity:
    • Sinner Get Ready was made while she was still recovering from surgery for a serious back injury she stated she suffered due to sexual abuse.
    • Epistolary Grieving was made after she had lost her voice and couldn't sing, which is why it's spoken word.
