Trivia / KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park

Go To

  • Awesome, Dear Boy: Actor Terry Lester (who played Sam, and who would later go on to a very successful career in soap operas) has no problem admitting that he was in this film, and love it when fans mention it to him. His attitude seems to be, "What's to be ashamed about? I did a movie with Kiss!"
  • Creator Backlash: Don't ask Gene or Paul about it. Hell, don't ask anybody about it!
    Gene Simmons: It's a classic film...if you're on drugs.
  • Dawson Casting: Did you know those punks were supposed to be teens?
  • He Also Did: Anthony Zerbe went on to be in Licence to Kill — yes, someone is in this and a James Bond film.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The "Attack of the Phantoms" version is found on the Kissology Volume 2 set. The original network version, whose rights are disputed, has been released unauthorized by several companies on on video and DVD, then pulled from the market when lawsuits were threatened.
  • Looping Lines: Peter Criss didn't show up to the sessions for these; his dialogue was replaced by Michael Bell. The only time you hear Peter Criss's actual voice in the entire thing is when he's singing.
  • Star-Derailing Role: Fans and KISS themselves have both said this film was one of the reasons Ace Frehley and Peter Criss left Kiss!
  • Stunt Double: In a lot of the fight scenes, you can clearly see Ace Frehley's black stunt double wearing his costume and makeup.
  • What Could Have Been: Kiss was asked to write new songs for the movie, but couldn't due to the limited production time. As a result, the only "new" song was "Rip and Destroy" (the song the robot clones sing), which was just "Hotter Than Hell" with new ill-fitting lyrics.
