• Lying Creator: The event was originally advertised as the Joker's last adventure until new creative people took over the Batman books. Not only does the Joker's "cancer" turn out to a very ill-advised attempt to prank the Joker, but the event ends with Batman reviving the Joker after Nightwing kills him, ensuring the Joker survives the event.
• Milestone Celebration: The tie-in isssue of the second volume of Superman was #175, one hundred issues after Doomsday killed Superman. Naturally, the issue features a Jokerizied Doomsday and states it takes place on the anniversary of Superman's death.
