Trivia / John Lydon

Go To

  • Development Hell: A second John Lydon solo album was mentioned as being in the works in the liner notes to The Best of British £1 Notes, a 2005 compilation featuring songs from throughout Lydon's career. One song from the album, "Rabbit Song", appeared on the compilation, and the same song was used as intro music for a 2009 Public Image Limited tour, but otherwise the album has yet to surface.
  • Executive Meddling: Psycho's Path ran a little short for the label's liking, and John had appeared on a successful house / alternative dance single a few years earlier (Leftfield's "Open Up"), so they requested to pad out the length with dance remixes, which were provided by Leftfield along with Moby, The Chemical Brothers, and Danny Saber, and appeared at the end of the album. John wasn't opposed, as he was interested in what other artists would do with the source material.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • In an interview with Rolling Stone, Lydon claimed that Queen invited him to sing backing vocals on a song thanks to the fact that they were recording News of the World at the same time and in the same studio as the Sex Pistols (who were putting together Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols).
    • 1989 saw the debut of a new series on MTV titled The Day In Rock, hosted by Kurt Loder. John Lydon was supposed to have been a guest on the first episode. When it came time for his segment, Kurt asked why he wasn't there. An off-camera crew guy said, "Johnny is sick." Kurt's response was, "I know that, but where is he?" The crew guy had to explain, "Johnny is ill."
