Trivia / Jitsu Squad

  • What Could Have Been: Behind-the-scenes, the game's development stages contain a ton of ideas absent in the final product, as documented in the kickstarter page (from back in 2020).
    • For instance, a detailed backstory regarding the unseen demon overlord Origami serves. Said demon in the past tricked his way into dominance after forming a pact with a noble king before it was defeated in an epic battle, a detail unmentioned in the final product note
    • The existance of a few Assist Characters like a tetsu named Ryugami, a superhero named Leon Chiro, and a Scary Black Man warrior named Hasassin, none which made it to the game. Or at least actually having a prominent role in the plot note
    • A drastically different origin story for the Jitsu Squad, who were deceased warriors revived Back from the Dead by Ramen, but reincarnated as animals - instead of the Forced Transformation seen in the final game.
    • The game's bosses were originally depicted as various Tragic Villains, forced into serving Origami after being cursed. No such thing occurs in the final product, with the bosses as willing accomplices to Origami.
    • A couple of scrapped bosses can be seen in screenshots, including a T. rex named Riptail note , a giant Egyptian statue and a Dark Action Girl villainess named Rocket, who lives up to her name by attacking the Jitsu Squad with a lion-headed bazooka.
    • The game itself could've been even longer. At least two levels didn't survive conceptual stage, like the jungle-themed Aurelia and space-themed Mercury Ruins (which houses a lost civilization inspired by ancient Egypt, presumably where you'll meet the since-deleted giant Pharaoh statue boss)
    • For bosses that did make it into the final product, Viper originally had a smaller crown in her second form. Dash's backstory as Hero's sworn enemy probably doesn't exist at that time and was added later.
    • On the flipside, one of the game's more prominent villainess, Shade (another Dark Action Girl) originally had a smaller role as a one-shot Mini-Boss. Presumably Rocket's deletion causes Shade to be promoted into a powerful Recurring Boss that needs to be defeated twice.
