  • Follow the Leader:
    • Dog Whisperer and Cesar 911 are Nat Geo Wild's answer to It's Me or the Dog, with both series featuring dog trainer Cesar Millan instead of Stillwell. The main difference between these series and IMotD is that Millan uses more physical, dominance-based tactics, while Stillwell relies on positive reinforcement.
    • My Cat from Hell can also be considered this, but instead of misbehaved dogs it focuses on unruly cats. It managed to vastly outlast IMotD however, and it's still airing new episodes to this day.
    • There's also My Tiny Terror, which combines the dog-training aspect of IMotD with the format of My Cat From Hell, though it exclusively deals with smaller dogs.
  • No Export for You: Similar to Supernanny, many of the show's U.K. episodes were either aired a limited amount of times or not aired at all in America, and as the show has been taken off the air, there's no way to view these episodes outside of the series' YouTube channel.
  • Promoted Fanboy: As revealed in the commentary video for "Humping Labradors: Jimi & Duke", Victoria Stillwell is one herself. When she was a new mom, she watched Supernanny a lot, and wanted to make a version of that but with dogs instead of kids. She was later signed by Ricochet, Supernanny's production company, to produce It's Me or the Dog.
  • Uncanceled: While it's unclear if the program was ever formally canceled, the original British version premiered in 2005 and last aired new episodes in 2008, with the U.S. version premiering in 2008 and continuing to 2012. In 2021, it was announced that casting was underway for new episodes of the U.K. series.
