• Author's Saving Throw: In response to the backlash regarding the lack of an endless mode at launch as well as the first third of the game in Leshy's cabin being easily the most popular section of the game to the point of overshadowing the rest of it, Kaycee's Mod is an official expansion created to turn the cabin sequence into an endless roguelike.
• Defictionalization: You can now buy the actual Inscryption game cards on Devolver Digital's website.
• Inspiration for the Work:
  • In an interview with The Escapist, Daniel Mullins states that the card game overall was inspired primarily by Magic: The Gathering; with elements borrowed from Yu-Gi-Oh!, Hearthstone and Slay the Spire.
  • Meta elements present throughout the game were inspired by Doki Doki Literature Club! and Frog Fractions.
  • Part 1's unique elements are inspired by other deckbuilding roguelikes such as Slay The Spire; tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons; and Escape-Room games.
  • Part 2 evolved from Mullins' idea of framing his digital card game using the RPG elements of the Pokémon Trading Card Game Gameboy adaptation.
• What Could Have Been: In a Reddit AMA, Kevin Saxby, the actor for Luke Carder, mentioned that he recorded several takes of the scene where Luke is maniacally playing with the real-life scale; some of which featured him foaming at the mouth and drooling so profusely that they had to wipe down the table between takes.
• Word of God:
  • Luke Carder has been stated via a Reddit AMA to have "mild social anxiety and substantial paranoia".
  • Via livestreams and emails as responses to fans, Daniel Mullins has provided several supplementary pieces of information about the game and its characters (though many as simply his own interpretation and possibly shouldn't be taken too seriously):
    • The Scrybes, in-universe, were originally from the card game of Inscryption, not made up for the video game adaptation.
    • The events of the game take place between 2009 and 2012.
    • Whoever the Bone Lord is, it's not Hitler.
    • Leshy's and P03's eyes are twitchy due to stress.
    • Leshy is not immune to the effects of his own camera; he would be turned into a card if it was used against him (and, indeed, this is what happens to him at the end of Act 1).
    • P03 uses different pronouns depending on its persona; the usage of "it" for it by certain other characters is also not intentionally derogatory.
    • The favorite foods of the Scrybes are raw mushrooms for Leshy, Doritos or Cheetos for P03, liver for Grimora, and pop rocks and other sparkly candies for Magnificus. Their favorite kinds of tea are mushroom tea for Leshy, yerba mate (in cans like an energy drink) for P03, earl gray for Grimora, and green tea for Magnificus.
    • When asked whether P03 and Leshy were divorced, Mullins answered "ya why not". The ring in the clock inside Leshy's cabin is also apparently their ring.
    • P03's arm crank does something "disgusting"—allegedly it generates a WordArt PNG reading "Ligma Balls".
    • Leshy communicates with the player by beaming his thoughts into their head rather than talking directly, which is also apparently the reason behind his swirly eyes and the reverberating sound effect during his text.
    • Leshy and Grimora are the tallest of the Scrybes standing and are both about 8 feet tall. P03 is also the shortest when not hovering, at about 5 feet in height.
    • If leshy was turned into a talking card , he would be the red hart.
