- Meme Acknowledgement: During the hiatus between Hozier and Wasteland, Baby!, some fans explained his absence by claiming that he had been taken by The Fair Folk. When asked on Tumblr where he had been all this time, Hozier started to explain that in the Land of Faerie, it's a Year Outside, Hour Inside before answering seriously. (He also referred a different questioner to his legal team when asked about his fey connections directly and refused to answer the question.)
- One-Hit Wonder: Ultimately averted in the United States, but it took a full decade. Hozier's first single, "Take Me To Church", was a #2 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, but he didn't have a single other song reach the all-genres' chart until "Eat Your Young" in 2023 and didn't have a Top 10 hit until "Too Sweet" the following year.
- Revival by Commercialization:
- Dark Souls III Ash Seeketh Embers launch trailer has included the song "In The Woods Somewhere" by Hozier, two years after the song's release, which promptly boosted the song's popularity on YouTube.
- The film Live by Night also used "Arsonist's Lullaby" in its trailer, introducing it to a lot of people who hadn't heard it before.
