• Development Hell: One of the most agonizing examples on record. Mattel simply has no desire to make more of these movies because the line has fallen by the wayside into forgotten territory and there's not enough of a concerted effort to call Acceleracers back into production. The fact that Mattel considers these movies failures and their statement in 2017 that the line has been cancelled "for the foreseeable future" makes it sting more...
• What Could Have Been:
  • According to Jeff Gomez on the Acceleracers Subreddit, Had his company Starlight Runner Entertainment been called back to work on Acceleracers, the plot would have been vastly different. Namely, the new characters introduced to the series would not exist, Banjee, Dan, Alec, Lani and Esmeralda would have played a bigger role and the plot would have had a team of 10 drivers fighting against a rogue side of the Accelerons whom wanted to destroy the Earth by using their racing skills in a destructive capability. Mattel nixed this in favor of the Darker and Edgier direction the final product went though plot elements of this appear to have been recycled in other Hot Wheels media post AR.
  • An earlier piece of concept art indicates the working title for the series was "Realm Racer".
  • Some of the cars originally went by different names. For instance, Kurt's car Battle Spec was called Remix, and Tork's Hollowback was called Knightmare. Additionally, the Hot Wheels car Rogue Hog was originally intended for the Accleracers line. While it's never been confirmed fans speculate it was going to be Tork's second car due to its resemblance to Hollowback.
  • Storyboards for the films have been revealed which shows a lot of changes between the final cut of the films. These changes range from minor to major. One of the more notable cuts was an entire sequence in the Pipeline Realm where Monkey runs into a laser grid and Porkchop runs into a pipeline filled with toxic chemicals in a scene that would have shown the drones using the water realm acclecharger.
• Word of God: According to the same ARA Jeff Gomez hosted on the Acceleracers subreddit, the unmasked Silencer driver seen at San Diego Comic Con 2005 that is often though to be Banjee is indeed Banjee. He also implied that Alec, Dan and possibly Esmeralda were also Silencer divers as well.
