- Dueling Works: With Warrior, a 2011 film also about a former athlete turned teacher who turns to MMA to secure money (although in that case it was to save his home from foreclosure). Unlike Boom, Warrior was a drama that was critically acclaimed for its performances, earning Nick Nolte an Oscar nomination, while Boom...wasn't.
