- Dawson Casting: The order of Priam's son from eldest to youngest is Hector, Paris and Polydorus, but Robert Brown (Polydorus) was four-years-older than Jacques Sernas (Paris).
- Underage Casting:
- Traditionally, Helen was twelve when Theseus abducted her. The end of Theseus' reign is traditionally 1205 BCE, with his abduction of Helen having been near the end of his reign. The traditional date for the Trojan War is 1194-1184 BCE, meaning Helen would have been thirty-three by the time the war ended. Rossana Podesta was twenty-two when she played Helen in 1956.
- Some sources give Menelaus' age as thirty at the start of the war, meaning he would be forty by the end of it. In the miniseries, James Callis was thirty-two. Thirty-six-year-old Rufus Sewell also falls under this due to dialogue stating Agamemnon is Menelaus' elder by two years, meaning he would be forty-two by the time the war ended.
- What Could Have Been:
- Eileen Moore and Anne Gunning were both screen tested for Helen for the 1956 film. Lana Turner, Elizabeth Taylor, Rhonda Fleming, Ava Gardner and Yvonne De Carlo were also considered.
- Yvonne Furneaux was considered for the role of Andrastle in the 1956 film.
