Trivia / Gemusetto

Go To

  • Adored by the Network: Ever since the show debuted, [as] has made use out of the show in every April Fools joke they've had since. It also was noted by Maxime Simonet himself that the former boss of [adult swim] Mike Lazzo gave Max a second season of the show as a way to give him a final goodbye gift before retiring in 2019.
  • Channel Hop: Sort of. The show moved from being on the regular [adult swim] block to Toonami of all places for it's second season. That said, the Toonami block airs on [as], so Gemusetto simply just jumped blocks rather than networks.
  • Christmas Rushed: Machu Pichu had to be produced in eight months in order to meet the deadline of the April Fools airdate. Death Beat(s) did not have this problem, as it was aired as a regular weekly series.
  • The Danza: While not completely his name, Bendy Rivers, is inspired by his voice actor's real name, Ben Rivera, and Bendy was a nickname in the Adult Swim Streams community way before Gemusetto ever aired.
  • No Budget: Let's just put it this way, Machu Pichu was produced with a budget that could rival even the earliest [adult swim] shows, and it shows. This arguably just makes the show funnier though, as it helps give the show it's Stylistic Suck atmosphere. Lampshaded by Max:
Maxime Simonet: Special thanks to Vietnam, I mean— not Vietnam, the Venture Bros., which took a break on production, a long hiatus, to make sure we could execute this project, which has so far cost $4 million, and as you see, with this graphic on the screen,
(Max shows a graphic on screen that says $4,000,000 dollars and is literally rising into the air and not actually upping it's number.)
Maxime Simonet: The number keeps going up!
  • What Could Have Been: The original subtitle for the second season was Afterlives.
    • For the second season, a scene was conceived where Makasu would visit his deceased Back Pocket Dimension Flying Bear in Back Pocket Dimension Flying Bear Heaven.
  • Write What You Know: Max Simonet has said that an inspiration for the series was Ganbare Goemon which was the first time he had seen "campy Japanese shit". He also cites Metal Gear and Food Wars! as major influences on him, among a ton of other anime.
  • Write Who You Know: He also said the inspiration behind Makasu was an outfit that Max wore to work one day and had an intern draw him in. His personality and life is partially a mix of him, stories of his grandpa, and his own dad issues, just exaggerated for the sake of comedy.
