Trivia / Game & Watch Gallery

Go To

  • Dummied Out: Unused graphics suggest ideas that were scrapped during the developmental stages.
    • "Very Hard" versions of the classic modes were considered for the first three in the series, though this did not apply to unlockable games.
    • The alarm icons from Manhole, Fire and Octopus were coded into Gallery, possibly meant to incorporate the alarm features (although they served no in-game purpose).
    • In 2, Princess Peach was to be one of the playable characters for Ball. She would have juggled cookies from Yoshi's Cookie. Her version can be accessed by entering a GameShark code, albeit with graphical errors. A "Very Hard" modern version was toyed with, also playable through GameShark.
  • Exiled from Continuity: For legal reasons; while the games in the series reference almost every Game and Watch title in some form, the games based on Popeye, Mickey Mouse and Snoopy are only ever mentioned in the "G&W History" section of the Gallery Corner from 4.
  • No Export for You: 2 was released on the black and white Game Boy in Japan only. The other regions got the Game Boy Color version, coinciding with the launch of that system.
  • Short Run in Peru:
    • Japan had to wait until 2012 to get the Game Boy Color port of 2 when it was released on that country's 3DS Virtual Console.
    • Japan also did not get 4/Advance until 2016 on the Wii U Virtual Console, 14 years after it was released everywhere else. It was compiled very late in 2002 in that region, hinting that it was planned to be released on the GBA sometime in early 2003.
