* CaliforniaDoubling: For Season 1 and one OutOfOrder episode shown in Season 2, the show was filmed in UsefulNotes/NewYorkCity, averting the trope for Olivia's visits to Massive Dynamic but playing it straight otherwise. From Season 2 onward it was shot in UsefulNotes/{{Vancouver}}, playing the trope straight all around.

* NamesTheSame: Thomas Jerome Newton: see also ''Film/TheManWhoFellToEarth''. The similar background stories (They are not from this earth) makes this a deliberate ShoutOut.

* FanNickname:
** A common fan nickname for alternate universe Walter was "Walternate." Guess what Walter calls him as of episode "Peter."
** Altivia, Bolivia, Fauxlivia, or, to some especially uncharitable Peter/Olivia shippers, Holivia. It's worth noting that the fans are fiercely divided on which FanNickname to use. The series has decided on 'Bolivia'. Walter has decided on Fauxlivia, however.
** And now there's [[spoiler: Belivia]]. Really.
** Altstrid.
** Ellanate.
** Charlnate (or Scarlie) and Lincolnate - though who the latter refers to is a source of debate among the fandom, since Lincoln is a much more prominent character in the alt universe. Some people have taking to referring to the Lincoln on "our" side as 'Kennedy', since Walter called him that once.
** Meana Sharp for the [[spoiler:alternate Nina in the Amber universe that is working with Jones]]
** Fans refer to themselves as [[IncrediblyLamePun Cortexifans]].
** The Polivia shippers call themselves "benchwarmers."
** September was renamed Sasstember after he actually makes a ''joke'' in 5x11.
** The Man In The X T-Shirt is usually referred to as "Mr. X", "Zeppelin Man", or "Man X."

* CreatorBacklash: Creator/JasikaNicole has no fond memories of the series, complaining that Astrid was poorly written and "relegated to a caretaker role of white people for 5 seasons".

* RealLifeRelative: John Noble's daughter Samantha appears in "Brave New World, Part 1" as Doctor [[SignificantAnagram Benlo]], the new administrator of St. Claire's.

* RomanceOnTheSet: Anna Torv married Mark Valley, who played her partner and lover in the pilot, but they separated after a year.

* RealLifeRelative: John Noble's daughter Samantha appears in "Brave New world, Part 1" as Doctor [[SignificantAnagram Benlo]], the new administrator of St. Claire's.

** Peter and Olivia meet with a conspiracy theorist who believes himself to be Spock from ''Series/StarTrekTheOriginalSeries''. You should already know [[Creator/LeonardNimoy who played Spock]]. Additionally, the conspiracy theorist is played by Creator/ClintHoward who also appeared as a guest star in one of the first Star Trek episodes. More of a Director Allusion, but the story that he tells is somewhat similar to the plot line of ''Film/StarTrek''. However, this was probably intentional as the episode aired in the opening week of the film, and therefore was used to promote it in the process.

** Due to Spencer List visibly aging, in later episodes he was portrayed by Rowan Longworth.

** Peter and Olivia meet with a conspiracy theorist who believes himself to be Spock from ''Franchise/StarTrek''. You should already know who played Spock. More of a Director Allusion, but the story that he tells is somewhat similar to the plot line of ''Film/StarTrek''. However, this was probably intentional as the episode aired in the opening week of the film, and therefore was used to promote it in the process.

** In the fourth season, when David Robert Jones is arrested, they briefly note that they called the Scotland Yard because of his accent. [[{{Film/SherlockHolmes}} Jared Harris has faced the Scotland Yard before]].
