Trivia / Fraidy Cat

Go To

  • Absurdly Short Production Time: During the show's short three-month lifespan, an episode was released a week after the preceding episode aired on Uncle Croc's Block, so one can imagine how short production lasted.
  • Acting for Two: Both Fraidy and Cloud Nine are voiced by Alan Oppenheimer, and seven of Fraidy's previous lives are voiced by Lennie Weinrib (Jasper Catdaver was voiced by Lou Scheimer, albeit uncredited).
  • Cancellation: When Uncle Croc's Block got reduced to a half-hour, Fraidy Cat was cut from the show due to bad ratings, and the decision took 6 unfinished episodes with it. Uncle Croc then later got cancelled.
  • Channel Hop: The show originally aired on ABC in 1975, and after the company severed all ties with Filmation, it eventually aired on CBS in yet another syndication on The Groovie Goolies and Friends in 1977.
  • Creator Killer: Can be considered so alongside Uncle Croc's Block, as the latter caused ABC to drop Filmation and nearly caused their studio to close down.
  • Foreign Re-Score: All known foreign language dubs of the show have a completely different soundtrack.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: In the form of twelve restored episodes, Fraidy Cat has seen a complete DVD release by BCI in the US, and by Boulevard Entertainment in the UK, and has also surfaced on public domain DVDs because somehow, Fraidy Cat was the only cartoon on UCB's roster to not bear copyright information in its respective intro. Only 9 of the 12 existing episodes were (unofficially) put on Mill Creek Entertainment’s numerous cartoon DVD sets, in which the episodes are in a saturated, faded quality. Finding official media of the show in the modern age is nearly impossible, so you'll have to rely on the power of secondhand shopping.
  • Missing Episode: Somehow, three of the twelve episodes were omitted from VHS in NTSC regions and were never seen in any North American home media releases until the release of the Frightfully Funny Collection Volume 2. They include:
    • “A Scaredy Fraidy”
    • “A Semi-Star is Born”
    • “It’s a Dog’s Life”
  • Unfinished Episode: Six of the eighteen commissioned episodes were in production but were then scrapped due to getting cut from Uncle Croc's Block when the latter was reduced to a half-hour. These include:
    • “Fraidy Gone Fishing”
    • “Fraidy Come Home”
    • “Double Trouble”
    • “Unlucky Fraidy”
    • “This Cat for Hire” NOTE: This episode’s title is commonly confused the with episode Puss N’ Boats.
    • “Culture Schlock”
