• Creator Killer: Some observers believe Flipper Football was the straw that broke the back of Capcom Pinball, though others believe the division was already on such shaky ground with upper management that nothing could've saved it.
• Stillborn Franchise: Flipper Football was advertised as Capcom's first "Interplay Display" pinball game; the dot-matrix display was mounted in the cabinet, and would respond when the player struck targets underneath it (such as shots against the opposing team's goal). Needless to say, no other "Interplay Display" games were ever made.
