- Many new transformations and characters, like Super Saiyan Bardock or Lord Chilled, usually show up here before showing up on a console game or an anime/manga special, usually.
- Putine and Gravy were made specifically for the game, for a new storyline based on the Supreme Kai of Time's past. Many other original characters started appearing afterwards.
- No Export for You: Prior to January 15, 2019, it seemed like nothing from Dragon Ball Heroes (or Super Dragon Ball Heroes by that point) would come state-side. Not even Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle could use characters from the game line. This trope became averted when Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission was released overseas via Nintendo Switch on April 5.
- Prop Recycling: Many of the character models in the game are reused from the Budokai series, only touched-up to look a bit better.
- What Could Have Been: Initially Xeno Trunks was supposed to get Super Saiyan 4, but they changed it to Super Saiyan God due to being unable to decide whether or not his hair should be either purple or black.
