- What Could Have Been: Scott Buck, showrunner of seasons 6, 7, and 8, revealed in an interview that in 2017, he sent Showtime a script of a pilot for a revival. In Buck's concept, Dexter would be a paramedic and would go back to being a serial killer when a new villain attacks the city where he would be hiding. Dexter would also learn to be a hacker to constantly keep an eye on Hannah and Harrison. According to Buck, Showtime sent the script to Michael C. Hall and he never even responded, which makes Buck assume that the actor must not have liked the script.
