Awesome / Dexter: New Blood

Go To

  • Dexter is established to be rusty after 10 years of not being a serial killer, and in "Unfair Game" he gets kidnapped, tied up, shot in one leg and chased by a hunter with a sniper rifle in a forest. The outcome? Dexter still wins. As he enters an abandoned summer camp, he leaves trails of blood for the hunter to follow, grabs a knife and thinks "You might have all day, but the night is mine" (callback to "Tonight is the night" from the original series). The hunter enters the summer camp, notices a missing knife, and groans about how stupid Dexter is for "bringing a knife to a gunfight". He then stops at a mirror to look at the Glasgow Smile-scars Dexter did to him when he escaped from his car, before Dexter suddenly jumps from the mirror and pounces onto him, causing the hunter to not act so tough anymore as he pleads that it wasn't anything personal. Dexter's response is stabbing him and furiously replying with "We're talking about my son. NOTHING is more personal than that." This entire segment felt as if Dexter's "Allow me to re-introduce myself, motherfucker" moment to a Wrong Genre Savvy antagonist who thought he kidnapped an average joe.
  • In a similiar vein, Kurt planned for the hunter to bring Dexter to his cabin so that he can witness him killing his son. As Kurt sees the hunter's truck from a distance, he urges him to hurry up and pull out Dexter: the look on his face when he realizes the truck is NOT slowing down and that DEXTER is behind the wheel, is priceless.
  • Dex and Harrison showing some father-son bonding time by Harrison distracting Kurt while Dex makes with the hypodermic. Harrison returning Kurt's smug "shooting" gesture and Kurt's obvious confusion and panic before Dexter gets him are beautiful.
