  • Referenced by...: The 1998 novel The Rich Man's Table by Scott Spencer (the author of Endless Love) is about the complex relationship between a No Celebrities Were Harmed version of Dylan named Luke Fairchild, his onetime girlfriend Esther Rothschild, and the book's narrator Billy Rothschild, the illegitimate son the pair had together. While Esther is mainly based on Dylan's 60s girlfriend Suze Rotolo (Luke and Esther posed together in the iconic cover photo of the book's equivalent to The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan), the most substantial of the various fictional Luke Fairchild songs that Spencer quotes throughout the book is a tribute to her called "Esther" that's quite clearly based on "Sara"; the structure is the same and you can sing the lyrics of "Esther" to the tune of "Sara".
    Esther, oh Esther
Mystical daylight breaks in your eyes
    Esther, oh Esther
I worship your soul, so eternal, so wise
