  • My Real Daddy: Comments made by Dylan and Jacques Levy suggest that Levy had a strong influence on the album's lyrics. It was Levy who had the idea to write a song about Joey Gallo, and Dylan has said that Levy actually wrote all the lyrics for "Joey" (the album's longest song).
  • One-Scene Wonder: The version of "Hurricane" on the album is actually a re-recording done several months after the album sessions because the lawyers at Columbia Records made Dylan change some lines to avoid a lawsuit.note  By that point he was busy with the Rolling Thunder Revue and Emmylou Harris couldn't return to do the harmony vocals, so it's Revue participant Ronee Blakley doing the female part for just that one song.
