* ActingForTwo: In addition to playing Darkman in his final transformation at the end, Creator/BruceCampbell also voiced some of the screams of characters who fall to their deaths.
* DivorcedInstallment: As mentioned in WhatCouldHaveBeen, it was originally written to be an adaptation of ''Radio/TheShadow''.
* FakeAmerican: The title character himself is played by Ballymena man Creator/LiamNeeson.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: The abandoned TV Pilot.
* TheOtherDarrin: Arnold Vosloo for Creator/LiamNeeson in the sequels, and Christopher Bowen in the TV Pilot. This is all somewhat justifiable, because it's Darkman.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Creator/SamRaimi intended to make a film of ''Radio/TheShadow'', but created Darkman when he couldn't get the rights.
*** He also wanted to make a Batman movie (possibly a sequel to the [[Film/{{Batman}} 1989 film]]). But couldn't get rights to it either.
** Raimi wanted Creator/BruceCampbell to play Darkman in the first movie. After the studio made it clear they preferred a more well-known star, Creator/GaryOldman and Creator/BillPaxton were among those in the running. Campbell ''does'' play a random civilian who may have been Darkman in disguise in the last scene.
** Creator/JuliaRoberts was almost cast as Julie Hastings before she got the role in ''Film/PrettyWoman'' and had to be replaced. Creator/DemiMoore was also considered and Bridget Fonda auditioned.
** Creator/RichardDreyfuss and Creator/JamesCaan both turned down the role of Louis Strack Jr.
** Creator/KathyBates was originally cast as the burn doctor but backed out before filming.
** A TV series was in development, with an unaired 30-minute pilot completed.
