Trivia / Cricket on the Hearth

Go To

The 1967 Animated Special provides examples of:

  • Blooper: In some copies of the movie, the scene of the green-skinned government agent standing in the doorway plays for about a second before the end credits.
  • Celebrity Voice Actor: Roddy McDowall, Danny Thomas, and Marlo Thomas as Cricket, Caleb, and Bertha.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Fell victim to this when Family Home Entertainment owned home video rights to the 1964-'70 Rankin/Bass specials, since they never released Cricket on the Hearth on VHS or Laserdisc. It ended up not receiving a home video release until the late '90s, after the rights to those specials shifted to Golden Books Family Entertainment, now owned by Universal.
  • Production Posse: Rankin-Bass regular Paul Frees voices most of the side characters in the special.
  • Real-Life Relative: Danny Thomas' daughter Marlo Thomas as Caleb's daughter Bertha.
