Trivia / Candy Crush Saga

  • Dummied Out: As well as coloured jelly and the lilypad for Jelly Colour levels and Frog levels, respectively, there are also a few more things that exist (or existed) in the code, none of which have been implemented to date:
    • A piñata blocker that would supposedly spawn special candies when it exploded.
    • Dark chocolate with more than three layers (which looks identical to three-layered dark chocolate, which may be why it was left unused).
    • Special jelly fish that could previously only appear by combining a regular jelly fish with a special candy.
  • Milestone Celebration: Each level with a multiple of 1000 has a special design to commemorate the milestone:
    • Level 1000 requires 1000 candies of three different colours and the candies at the start are arranged to form an "M" (the Roman numeral for 1000). It is also That One Level, so you'll probably be playing it until it stops being fun and becomes completely frustrating instead.
    • Level 2000 has a board design with "2K" spelled out with Colour Bombs. Unlike 1,000, this level is intentionally very easy. There's even a special package of boosters awarded for beating this level.
    • Level 3000's board has "3K" spelled out with bobbers, which spawn jelly fish. It's also the first level where jelly fish are required to complete the order.
    • Level 4000 has a board design that spells out "4K" and requires both removing all jelly and fulfilling candy orders to complete the level.
    • Level 5000 has red candies arranged to spell out "5K" at the bottom of the board and all three special candies constantly spawning on the top part of the board.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: Beginning in 2020, King have held polls on their website in which players get to choose a name for an upcoming element, and the most popular name for the element becomes official. This has happened with the liquorice blocker that replaced popcorn (which came to be known as the Liquorice Shell), the snake candy (which ended up being called the Candy Cobra), and the cylindrical candy wrapper with coloured stripes on it (which was given the name Wonderful Wrapper).
  • Schedule Slip:
    • A sneak peek of Episode 123's background suggested that bobbers were going to be introduced in that episode. The background was changed to an icy climate and bobbers were introduced in Episode 162 (around 9 months later).
    • According to the poll on King's website, the snake candy (later revealed to be called "Candy Cobra") was planned to be introduced by the end of Summer 2021. It was introduced in October 2021 instead.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • According to the files, there was going to be another level type known as "Jelly Colour", in which red jelly would turn green when candies were matched on it and vice versa. The objective was to turn all the jelly green. However, the level type was scrapped, likely because it would be too luck-based and too difficult, even by Candy Crush Saga's standards.
    • Another scrapped level type appeared to involve guiding the candy frog to a lilypad without the frog eating any candy. It's possible that this level type was scrapped because of how likely it would be to accidentally feed the frog due to unwanted cascades (one of the main reasons that Dreamworld was removed).
