Trivia / Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game

Go To

  • Actor Allusion: Anthony Howell is very recognizable as the voice the protagonist of Vampyr (2018) due to his distinctive accent as well as baritone. Even Yahtzee was surprised by it. It's noticeable primarily because they're both indie occult adventure games released in the same year by the same publisher with both developers being based out of Paris.
    • The similarities do not stop there. Both are traumatized World War I vets who are thrust into the world of the occult and end up fighting monstrosities from beyond our reality and comprehension. Neither are the same after their journeys and definitely not for the better. Also, they could pass as relatives.
  • Adaptation Displacement: While most people are aware this is an adaptation of one of H.P. Lovecraft's classic Cthulhu Mythos, fewer are aware this is another adaptation of the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game. This is a Downplayed Trope example as the game uses a simplified version of its rules and doesn't adapt any of the modules.
  • Fake American: Most of the game's cast is comprised of British actors, who adopt American accents, with varying success.
  • Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: Anthony Howell attempts to adopt a Bostonian accent for much of the game but very often ends up speaking RP British.
