Fridge Brilliance
  • On Darkwater's docks, Pierce meets two drunken sailors who accuse two of Cat's goons standing nearby to be the ones who desecrated the statue of St. Brendan built on the pier; there's an option to ask the smugglers about it, and they deny being the vandals. Investigating the statue yourself shows it has been tagged with some esoteric runes. Since Cat and her gang are eventually revealed to have nothing to do with the cult, the two goons were probably completely sincere in their innocence.

Fridge Horror

  • In the beginning of the game, one of the higher-ups in the detective firm Pierce works for threatens to fire him if he continues to not take cases. In the "Farewell" ending, Pierce survives the events without losing his mind and is back at his office. He also seems severely depressed, and the whole investigation on Darkwater Island was probably traumatic enough to make him reluctant to go back to work... He's still alive and sane, but would probably be fired anyway.
