- Creator Killer: Following this film's failure, director Greg Beeman moved back to television, with his last film credits being a number of Disney Channel movies.
- Divorced Installment: At one point it was pitched as a Home Alone Spin-Off with Daniel Stern reprising his role as Marv.
- Method Acting: Enforced by Daniel Stern, who purposely avoided any swimming lessons or exercise training that was suggested to him, as he felt that declining them would make his character seem more inexperienced.
- Re-Cut: A PG-rated version of the film, which toned down some of the language, was later released on video, though bizarrely enough it still keeps the film's Precision F-Strike.
- Star-Derailing Role: 20th Century Fox was interested in giving Daniel Stern more comedy vehicles in the future but when the film bombed, the offers were revoked.
