• Blooper: While Buffy and Faith are falling down the stairs, a cameraman (and camera) can be seen to the left during the shot facing up the stairs.
• Completely Different Title:
  • French: "Une revenante, partie 1" (A Stranger, Part 1)
  • German: "Böses Erwachen" (Evil Awakening)
  • Hungarian: "Az Év lánya" (Daughter of the Year)
• Deleted Scene: This line was cut, where Buffy explains what she would like to use to get into the Initiative:
  Buffy': "Explosives, tear gas, grappling hooks."
• What Could Have Been: In the original version of the scene in which Buffy and Faith meet again for the first time, Doug Petrie had written Buffy attacking Faith first. Joss Whedon rejected this sequence because he felt it was "too unsympathetic to hit a girl who had just been in a coma."
• Word of God: According to Doug Petrie’s DVD Commentary, the subtext of the scene with Faith and Joyce was that if Joyce were Faith’s mother, Faith would not have neglected Joyce’s protection (as she accuses Buffy of doing).
• Working Title: Rise and Shatter.
