  • Actor-Inspired Element / Actor-Shared Background: In season 5, we learn that Edgar shares Jamie Hector's Haitian heritage. Unsurprisingly, it soon becomes plot-relevant.
    • Troy Evans and Barrel have served in the Vietnam War.
  • Backed by the Pentagon: The LAPD assisted the production team by allowing any officer willing to volunteer to act as extras and give access to Hollywood Station.
  • Defictionalization: Zig-zagged in-universe; in The Late Show it's revealed to be nonfiction.
  • Development Hell: Michael Connelly explained in interviews that the Bosch novels were supposed to be made into a movie in the 1990s. It never took off, forcing Connelly to negotiate to have the rights back.
  • Real-Life Relative: Young Bosch is played by Quinn Welliver, Titus Welliver's son.
  • What Could Have Been: As noted above, the rights were bought for a film series with the studio looking to cast Harrison Ford as Bosch.
    • Michael Connelly mentioned that Titus Welliver was almost never called to be Harry Bosch since at the time Amazon told him and the assembled production crew that the first season had been greenlit, Titus was in Hong Kong shooting scenes for Transformers: Age of Extinction at the time. Connelly wasn't sure if Titus's schedule would be adjusted so he could return to Los Angeles to film the pilot scenes.
