Trivia / Bombergirl

  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The PC port's open-beta was short-lived and pulled sooner than intended after receiving complaints about the game having issues connecting to servers and players having their money eaten as they attempted to buy more tickets caused by said server problems. A certain imageboard, however, had other plans as they decided to crack the game's PC beta and circulate it through torrent sharing to keep it alive. This became less of an issue as the PC version was completed for release on December 2021 and has became F2P as of September 2022 outside requiring jumping through a few hoops for non-Japanese players.
  • Milestone Celebration: On Konami's 50th anniversary, Bombergirl added a number of in-game items to celebrate the company's birthday.
  • No Export for You: The game has never been released outside of Japan as it was only released as an arcade game, which has been dead in Western territories for decades, and was developed for the e-Amusement system, an arcade system that was already exclusive to Japan. The PC version also stayed in Japan, due to required linking between it and the arcade version through e-Amusement cloud services, unlike other recent Konami e-Sports games such as eFootball Pro-Evolution Soccer. Notably, as long as you're able to set up an e-Amusement pass, the PC version is mostly playable outside Japan, especially after the September 2022 rework.
  • What Could Have Been: A couple concepts and ideas were changed during the game's development as well as some post-launch characters being scrapped.
    • On August 21, 2018, an tournament event was held in Tokyo which featured various artworks, sketches, and Concept Art for the game and its characters (archived). Some of these different character designs of the initial four Bombergirls (Shiro, Oren, Emera, and Momoko), a character designed after MAX from Bomberman MAX, along with some character designs that went unused in the game's final release.
    • Shiro was originally going to have with shorter or longer hair with a different personality than what she has in the game's final release. The longer-haired Shiro design appears to have been repurposed and ended up being used for the design of Kuro. The names of several pre-existing female Bomberman characters can also be found on the same page, indicating either being up for consideration or influencing the roster.
    • A concept art of Momoko features her stielhandgranate-like magic wand was originally going to have the ability to "power-up" and transform into a "ultimate magical potato masher" (a bundled stielhandgranate). Although the concept went unused for Momoko, it was however repurposed for the design of Pine's magic wand.
    • Pastel was originally going to have a different design that featured belts, pockets, a leotard, and slightly different hair style.
    • Some new Bombergirl characters were planned to be added in the game's roster but were scrapped for unknown reasons, which includes a knight-styled character who was inspired by Gradius and carries a gigantic sword that resembles the Vic Viper, as well as a tengu shrine maiden inspired by Tsugumi from Dragoon Might.
