Trivia / Bloodshot (2020)

Go To

  • California Doubling: South Africa doubles for London. Not particularly well, either. "London" features scrub brush in the alleyways and massively incorrect license plates on cars.
  • Early-Bird Release: Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the film was released on digital on March 24, 2020, a whopping twelve days after its theatrical release.
  • Fake American: Australian Guy Pearce and Scottish Sam Heughan play Americans.
  • Fake Brit: Lamorne Morris, an American actor and comedian from Chicago Illinois. He puts on a pretty convincing "cockney" English accent as Wilfred Wigans.
  • Saved from Development Hell: The film remained in limbo for nearly a decade, with early development in 2012 (with Jared Leto planned to take the role) stalling out for several years, along with a rotating stable of writers, producers and attempts to build a "Valiant Cinematic Universe" based on the comic publisher. It was only when Diesel joined the production in 2017 that other cast members joined and production began, eventually resulting in its release in March 2020.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Michael Sheen was tapped to play Dr. Emil Harting, but had to drop out before production began due to scheduling problems.
    • An earlier version of the script originally concluded with a post-credit scene that would have debuted Ken Watanabe as Toyo Harada, also known as Harbinger, who would have introduced himself to Bloodshot via controlling a dire wolf. Due to external factors (likely rights issues), the planned cameo was scrapped and the film was written as a standalone project.
    • The film itself was intended to jumpstart a "cinematic universe" based on Valiant Comics properties, with plans for a Harbinger spinoff (listed above) and additional sequels leading up to a "Harbinger Wars" crossover. With the rights for Harbinger going to Paramount Pictures in 2019, it remains to be seen if the original crossover universe concept will continue.
