Trivia / Big Windup!

Go To

  • Bonus Material: Every volume of the manga comes with several extra strips and explanations that Higuchi couldn't fit into the main series.
  • Genre-Killer: The low sales of Funimation's English dub of the first season effectively put the kibosh on sports-focused anime and manga seeing release in the American market for about six years, with only the surprise success of later series like Free! and Haikyuu!! convincing American licensors to start picking up sports anime again.
  • Late Export for You: The anime's first season didn't sell as well as Funimation had expected. As a result, Season 2 wasn't released in North America until it was picked up by Nozomi Entertainment in 2016, six years after it first aired in Japan.
  • No Dub for You: Because Nozomi Entertainment (who has Season 2's license) completely refuses to commission dubs for any previously unreleased series, Season 2 will not have a dub.
  • Series Hiatus: Asa Higuchi took a 1 year maternity break from 2010 to 2011.
