• Author Appeal: Behind The Corner has often mentioned that his favourite characters to write are Weiss and Blake, which is why they are the only ones outside of Team AZRE to have multiple chapters in their POV.
• Diagnosis of God: Both Eirian and Ruby were confirmed to have ADHD and autism by the author.
• Promoted Fanboy: A frequent commenter created Steven Rosewater, who the author liked so much that he included Steven in AZRE's early chapters and gave him a scene where he helped Adam start moving away from his antagonistic behaviour.
• Schedule Slip: The time between Chapters 63 and 64 was an entire year, as the author confessed they were struggling in their real life and had no time to write the next chapter.
• What Could Have Been: Behind The Corner has been pretty secret about the behind the scenes of AZRE, but has been honest about a few things when he first started writing:
  • Adam and Eirian were originally going to be half siblings, sharing the same mother. That storyline was quickly dropped since it didn't hit into the timeline, and made Clementine Unintentionally Unsympathetic since she was going to abandon Adam in Atlas to the SDC while going back to Menagerie with Icheku and the month old Eirian.
  • Alon, Adam's biological father, was originally called Chairo and was a bigger bastard who willingly abandoned Cerise when she was pregnant with Adam. The author decided against yet another abusive parents and has rewritten Alon to be more grey as a foil to Adam.
  • Adam's romantic partner was originally far more ambiguous. At the start of AZRE, the author didn't know whether to go with Adam/Zanthus or Adam/Eirian, and at one point planned to break Adam/Zanthus up later in the story and then have Adam and Eirian get together. This was scrapped in favour of Golden Fleece (Yang/Eirian).
• Word of God:
  • The Tumblr blog for AZRE, rwbyazre, makes no effort to hide any spoilers for AZRE with the author talking about the characters, future plot points, and even future sequels planned.
  • Team AZRE's birthdays were revealed on his blog. Adam's is the 5th May, Zanthus' is the 19th August, Ruri's is the 18th February, and Eirian's is the 19th April.
  • Eirian's last name comes from her grandmother specifically as a ploy by her parents to try and endear their child to her grandmother. Sadly, as seen in the story, it didn't work.
• Write What You Know: Behind The Corner has explicitly stated that he likes writing Eirian and her story as a mixed race character because he is mixed race himself, on top of having ADHD and a past of bullying and isolation.
