    Fredbear's Family Diner
Before any other events take place, William Afton and Henry Emily start up Fredbear's Family Diner.

    Freddy Fazbear's Pizza
In 1983, William and Henry open Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a sister location to Fredbear's.

    The first murder and aftermath
At some point, Henry creates the Puppet in Freddy's to guard his daughter, Charlotte, by responding to her green bracelet, but when the Puppet is trapped in its box, several children lock her outside a Freddy's restaurant. Left outside in the rain, William drives up to Charlie, and murders her. The Puppet, finally able to get out of the restaurant, goes outside, being damaged by the rain, and finds her dead body. The Puppet collapses next to her, it's body giving out, allowing Charlie to possess the Puppet's body.

    The Bite of ' 83
Sometime in the year 1983, William's younger son is going to have a birthday party at the end of the week at Fredbear's. When the day finally arrives, the child’s brother (most likely Michael Afton) and his friends force the child into Fredbear's jaw as a prank, but tragedy strikes when, due to the child’s tears loosening the springlocks in the suit's jaw, Fredbear's jaw clamps onto the child, biting into him. The child does not survive the bite, but his Fredbear plush (which was talking to him for some time) promises to put them back together.

Fredbear's closes down sometime after this incident.

    The Child Murders
On June 26th 1985, William Afton lures five children to the off-camera "Safe Room" while in his persona of "Spring Bonnie", and murders them, stuffing their bodies into the animatronic suits. First two are reported missing, until five were linked to the incident. While Afton was arrested, and charged, he was not convicted, due to the bodies never being found. The Puppet would later grant the children "Life" by allowing them to possess the animatronic suits. All Safe Rooms are then sealed off.

Grand Reopening of Freddy's/The 1987 Location
In 1987, a new Freddy Fazbear's Pizza opens, with the Toy animatronics replacing the originals, and Phone Guy as the boss of that particular building. The Toys are programmed to detect any criminals and allowed to walk around in the day, but William infiltrates the Pizzeria as a night guard, moves to the Dayshift after animatronics come after him, causes another batch of murders, and it's implied that he left the Toys possessed. His successor, Jeremy Fitzgerald, takes over the night shift, fending off the Toy and "Withered" animatronics with a company provided Freddy mask, and a flashlight. During the investigation, the building goes on lockdown, and eventually closes down after one last event, a birthday party. After finishing his week and accidentally doing overtime on Saturday night, Jeremy is moved to the Dayshift on Sunday for the birthday party, and may have been the victim of The Bite of '87, an incident where an animatronic bit off someone's frontal lobe, although he survived. Fritz Smith (possibly Michael Afton in disguise, unknown if before or after Sister Location, likely to be before) takes over the (likely last) night shift for Sunday, but is fired after his first and only shift. The Toy animatronics were scrapped, and the older animatronics were refurbished for later use.

Circus Baby's Pizza World & Circus Baby's Entertainment and Rental
Sometime after one of the three Freddy Fazbear's Pizzas (likely the second/1987 location) closed and before William died, Circus Baby's Pizza World, seemingly a Sister Location to Freddy's, was opened by William, with the robots made to kill or kidnap children. William's daughter, Elizabeth Afton, gets killed by the titular Circus Baby, forcing William to shut the location down.

    The Final Freddy's/The 1993 Location
By the time of 1993, Fazbear Entertainment had opened a Freddy's with refurbished versions of the original animatronics. Phone Guy, functioning as a night guard, was killed on his last week. His successor Mike Schmidt, who is actually William's son Michael Afton in disguise, took over the night shift, using Phone Guy's last recordings to advise him. After Night 6, he was called "Employee of the month", due to his dedication, and praised for overtime. On Night 7, however, Mike was fired for tampering with the AI of the animatronics during the November 13 shift (Night 7). At an unknown point of time, presumably shortly after this, he has dreams that have the Nightmare animatronics in them. Despite having opened a smaller budgeted Pizzeria, the company was struggling due to having a poor reputation, and they spent a year trying to find a buyer, however, no other company wished to be associated with the company. Thus, the Pizzeria would close by years end, likely not making it more than a month after Schmidt was fired. When the Pizzeria was rotting, William Afton returned, unsealing the location's Safe Room to hide in it and dispose of the remaining animatronics. Shadow Freddy led Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy one by one to the Safe Room, where Afton would dismantle them, unknowingly unleashing the spirits of his past victims. The spirits of the dead children corner William Afton and force him to enter a springlock suit where he seemingly dies due to the spring locks malfunctioning. In truth, William survives and becomes Springtrap, either due to Golden Freddy keeping him alive or Afton's soul possessing the Golden Bonnie suit on its own or possibly both.

Return to Circus Baby's Entertainment & Rental
Later, Circus Baby's Entertainment & Rental, an underground location, has hired the player character as the new after-hours technician. The player character, Michael Afton, nicknamed "Eggs Benedict" by HandUnit, the artificial intelligence who acts as a guide for the player, spends five nights working as the technician. At the end of night five, Michael has his insides scooped out to make room for Ennard, an amalgamation of the animatronics. Ennard leaves Michael's corpse a week later, and Michael rises, still alive, thanks to the Remnant that the Scooper injected into him. This likely took place after his first shift as Fritz Smith but before his full week as Mike Schmidt. At some point, Baby is kicked out by the other souls possessing Ennard and rebuilds her old suit as Scrap Baby, while Ennard is apparently rebuilt as Molten Freddy. It is implied that the victims possessing the original animatronics are still not free because pieces of the suits went into the Funtime animatronics, presumably during William's last day before becoming Springtrap as he took pieces of the dismantled suits; That, however, is yet to be confirmed.

    Fazbear’s Fright
30 years after the third Freddy's closure, Fazbear's Fright, a horror attraction based off the tales of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, opens for business. The Fazbear's Fright Guard (identity unknown, either Michael Afton or possibly an unrelated security guard) is hired to test the attraction for a week to make sure everything is working as it should, but one day, Phone Dude, the owner of Fazbear's Fright, finds an old springlock suit, the Golden Bonnie, sealed in a boarded up room, with it having Afton's corpse inside. Phone Dude also finds training tapes dating to Jeremy Fitzgerald's night shifts made by Phone Guy, which the Fazbear's Fright Guard listens to throughout his week fending off Springtrap and hallucinations of other animatronics in what turns out to be Phone Guy's last communications as the location the tapes were made for closed days after Phone Guy made them. On the last day of the week, right before Fazbear's Fright was supposed to become open to the public, the building burns down leaving almost nothing left, most likely due to faulty wiring. William, now fully free as Springtrap, survives.

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator and the Ultimate Custom Night
Henry, still alive, has devised a plan to stop the animatronics forever, but he needs the help of the protagonist (Michael Afton) to pull it off. Henry constructs a fake pizzeria to lure the animatronics, Springtrap (now decayed into Scraptrap), Scrap Baby, Molten Freddy and Lefty (actually the Puppet in a black Freddy Fazbear lookalike) into a maze that loops around indefinitely, meanwhile Michael has to fend off the animatronics for five nights while maintaining the illusion of the fake pizzeria. Once all of the animatronics have been trapped in the maze, Henry, uses his final words to silence Elizabeth taunting her brother, preempt the other spirits haunting the remaining animatronics from speaking, apologize to his daughter, thanks her for allowing him to put the other children to rest, thanks Michael for his tenacity in stopping his father, and to condemn Afton for his actions, as they all burn to the ground, ending the nightmare that was the Fazbear Family legacy.

The vengeful soul of Golden Freddy, begins torturing William in his nightmares, who has barely survived the fire thanks to the soul forcefully keeping him alive.

    The Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience
Fazbear Entertainment, rebranding itself, hires an indie game developer to make indie games. However, the indie games tarnish the company's reputation. In response to this, Fazbear Ent. makes a VR game that is supposed to make jokes of the past. While scanning circuit boards for the game, a mysterious virus that resembles Spring Bonnie enters the game, nicknamed Glitchtrap, whom may be a version of Afton. Glitchtrap encounters a beta-tester named Jeremy, driving him to insanity and making him cut his face off. He later encounters Tape Girl, who makes tapes detailing her investigation into Fazbear Entertainment covering up the murders and splits Glitchtrap in pieces after he attached himself to them. Later, the player, Vanessa A., known as Vanny, encounters Glitchtrap, gets driven to madness, and ultimately gets possessed by him, with him being a simple voice in her head, sometimes taking over and cajoling her persona into continuing his work as a serial killer. The VR game is sold, and a Halloween DLC gets released.

    The Fazbear Funtime Service
Fazbear Entertainment then makes the Fazbear Funtime Service, allowing people to send animatronics so they can be entertained. However, due to a virus, the animatronics become highly aggressive. Vanny gets rid of the virus but hacks the animatronics into being more aggressive. Vanny also brings Springtrap as a part of the service, although he wasn't planned. Fazbear Entertainment keeps adding new animatronics and skins to the Service.

    Freddy Fazbear's Mega PizzaPlex
Meanwhile, Fazbear Entertainment is also building a mall called Freddy Fazbear's Mega PizzaPlex, where they replace Bonnie and Foxy with Montgomery Gator and Roxanne Wolf, while Glamrock Freddy and Glamrock Chica are built as the Freddy and Chica upgrades. Bonnie and Foxy are not retired but take a backseat as specific attractions themed around them. Glamrock Freddy protects a child named Gregory from Vanny, who is assigned by her superiors in Fazbear Entertainment, unaware of her status as a possessed serial killer, as security guard to the Mega PizzaPlex. Glitchtrap is revived physically as Burntrap, only to be dragged away by a massive animatronic hybrid known as the “Tangle”.
