Tear Jerker / The Powerpuff Girls (2016)

This show may be a Denser and Wackier version of The Powerpuff Girls, but it is sure to have at least a few sad moments here and there.

General

• Anytime Bubbles cries.
  • Whenever Blossom cries is also slightly sad. Whenever her bow droops due to sadness is is a bit poignant too.
• The fact that Donny doesn't have a father is sad enough on its own, although his mother has a "boyfriend", that may or may not be his biological father.
• Bliss. Between her backstory, and being manipulated twice (by Him and the Sporde), she has her share of sad moments. Also whenever she has to leave and say goodbye to her family.

Season 1

Princess Buttercup

• Bubbles and Blossom feeling abandoned by Buttercup after she hangs out with the Derby-Tantes more than them.
  Bubbles: I miss Buttercup...
  • It's hard not to feel at least a little sorry for Buttercup after she figures out that the Derby-Tantes were only hanging out with her because Princess paid them to.

Bye Bye Bellum

• This is not only depressing to longtime fans of the original series for having Ms. Bellum Put on a Bus, but it's also hard not to feel sorry for the Mayor when he's shown to break down over realizing how dependent he's been on Ms. Bellum.

Little Octi Lost

• Bubbles crying over Buttercup's Disney Death, saying that if she had forgiven her, Buttercup wouldn't have gotten caught in the garbage crusher trying to save Octi.

Power-Up Puff

• The scene where Buttercup and Bubbles is showing off their aura powers to other kids. Another kid asks Blossom if she has aura powers too, but before Blossom can answer, Buttercup says this:
  Buttercup: So what if she hasn't gotten her new powers yet and might never get them?! [her words echo, and the camera zooms closer in on Blossom's sad face as they do]
  Blossom:[dejectedly] I gotta go. I'll see you guys at home.
  [Buttercup looks worriedly towards Bubbles, looking as if she regrets what she said]
  • Right after this happens, Blossom flies down the street in the rain while sad music plays, and sees things that remind her of her mediocrity, and finally breaks down when she looks in a mirror and it breaks. The bow on her head even droops.
  Blossom: Geez, I get it! [flies off sobbing]

Tiara Trouble

• Bubbles running away crying after Blossom and Buttercup pressure her into winning.
  Buttercup: I think we messed up.

Arachno-Romance

• Sapna Nehru breaks up with the Professor to protect him from her Spider Transformations. While the Professor seems to get over it, the episode ends with him trying to find a cure for her.

Bubbles of the Opera

• After getting a bad school photo, bad haircut, a bad reaction to defective makeup and getting her teeth knocked out after flying into a fan, Bubbles ends up looking deformed and feels ugly. And then she teams up with Mojo and has to fight her sisters.

Cheep Thrills

• Bubbles saying goodbye to Cheepy.

Halt and Catch Silico

• Silico's backstory. His parents were never around, and his only friends were his robots, which were accidentally destroyed by the Girls.

Secret Swapper Of Doom

• The Professor being heartbroken after he finds out the Girls blabbed about his secrets.

Poorbucks

• Blossom's heartbroken reaction after Princess betrays her. Even Buttercup is appalled by this.
  Blossom: But I don't get it... I... (sniffs) I thought we were... '(sniffs) were friends! (runs off crying)''
  Buttercup: I thought you were a nice person!
  Princess: Well, it's nice to be nice, but it's great to be rich!

Somewhere over the Swingset

• The Girls finding the Professor in the real world through the bathroom mirror reflection worrying about them while the Girls unsuccessfully gets his attention.

Season 2

Home Sweet Homesick

• The ending song.

Memory Lane of Pain

• Bubbles feeling useless after finding no momentos. Even the newspapers mistake her for an annoying pigtailed fan.

Bridezilla

• Bianca tricks the Girls into destroying Barbarus’s wedding with Mojo. When that failed, Bianca reveals she’s lonely for Barbarus.
  • Though it played for laughs, Barbarus and Mojo breaking up.

Toy Ploy

• Blossom telling President Dinosaur that there’s too much for her to juggle as a leader.

Man Up 3: the Good, the Bad, and the Manly

• Although he's a perpetual jerkass, it's at least a little bit sad to see Manboy getting kicked out of his home, and reduced to a baby-faced coward.

Season 3

Can’t Buy Love

• Morbucks falls in love with Barry, but soon mistakes him for having a crush on Blossom.
  • Morbucks attacks Blossom for revenge, but when Barry witnesses the fight, she leaves, much to everyone’s confusion.
  Morbucks: Take good care of him, Blossom. I have many reasons to hate you, but this isn’t one of them. (flies off)
  Buttercup: What just happened?
  Blossom: I think the only one who actually knows is Princess Morbucks.
