It's not fine. It's not fine at all.

  • Five explaining why she was banished is this mixed with Nightmare Fuel. Her former friend (later shown to be Solis) was forced to banish her after Prince Suvillan ordered them to.
    • Though, this is later mitigated by the fact that it was probably not Solis, but a Spirit mimicing him in order to torment her.
  • After Nino explains his plan to find a way back to the human world, Aria gets uncomfortably quiet, and says he should go see Kotori. Despite Nino recognizing that something is wrong, Aria repeatedly insists she's fine and that he needs to go. All Nino can think to do is ask Five to keep her company, and then leave. Five waves him goodbye, but Aria keeps her back to him. After Nino leaves, one panel shows Aria's face. She's crying and desperately trying to hide it. It really shows how Aria has been desperate for any sort of human companionship for years.
  • The way Aria reacts to Kotori betraying her: she doesn't. She's just left with glassy eyes, staring at nothing, and Nino has to practically drag her out of town.
    • It gets worse when Nino tries to cheer her up by down talking Kotori and saying that she deserves better than her. She absolutely refuses to believe Kotori would try to hurt her voluntarily (of course, she's right, but she doesn't know that) and refuses to listen to Nino. She then calms down, by tearfully states that everything was her fault, that she's only caused trouble for Nino and Five, that she's a burden to all the people she cares about, and says they should just leave her. Becomes heartwarming when Nino refuses to leave and refutes her claims.
  • Kotori's horrified stare when she finds Aria knocked out by Corona and is going to be executed. For better or worse, Aria was right about Kotori not wanting to kill her.
  • Once Aria escapes her imprisonment, where does she go first? Immediately back to the scene of Decimate, to confirm if Nino really did fall into the rift. She then proceeds to target a "The Reason You Suck" Speech at herself (told via the narration).
You stupidly did nothing useful, even up to his final moments. The whole time, he's been holding your hand and guiding you. He was protecting you. He allowed you to rely on him.
    But what were you?
You weren't reliable in the slightest. You believed that everything will be magically fine if there was someone to push you into action, someone for you to follow. Whenever he smiled and talked, it felt like it'll all be fine, even if his decisions were reckless.
And now, the burden of their conclusion fell entirely on him.
    • She also concludes from this that there's only way she can be useful to Nino anymore.
You have to help Five. You'll take on the last burden he left behind.
  • Five's dream flashback to her time at the lab consists of her running to give "Sis" a flower crown that she made for her. Pretty cute, except for the fact that Five very clearly knows that this is just a flashback and is frantically trying to deny it and stay asleep.
Five bestows the present upon her friend. The friend whom Five calls "sis". She is everyone's sister, she loved- loves, she LOVES, present tense, she loves everyone and everyone loves her. Sis said thank you Five and Five laughed- laughs, present tense, laughs and sis laughs and they all laughs laughing and laughing and laughing present continuous tense, nothing is in the past.
Five and everyone had- has, has so much fun and the fun never ends and nothing terrible happens. Five didn't sleep and wake up to everyone being gone no the friends never left Five it never happened they were- are, are always always together and Friend never hurt Five.
There was no monster prince to tell Friend to be mean to Five and there was no fire in Five's home and nobody was missing everything was fine- is fine, all is fine and continues to be fine.
Five doesn't want to wake up.
  • The revelations about Solis's past and the reason why he, Corona, and Kotori are the way they are. After Solis lost his old friends at the lab, he gained Kotori as a girlfriend and Corona as a friend to help him move past it. Except that eventually 1) Kotori broke up with him, and he tried to be as adult as possible and still be friendly regardless; and 2) something happened to Kotori that caused her previously energetic and curious self to treat everything as a waste of time. All this inevitably led to Kotori distancing herself more and more from them, and since Corona and Solis couldn't get along on their own, their friendship also deteriorated as she became closer to Suvillan and he focused on living quietly and doing his job. Essentially, he lost all of his friends twice.
