This page contains spoilers

Season 1

  • The death of General Clary's daughter in the second episode. Though we never see her in person, General Clary is psychically linked to her, projecting the raid on the Spree base to the war room as it happens, and has to watch through her daughter's eyes as she is attacked and killed, blood pooling out on the ground in front of her.
  • Abigail's complete shock and trauma after what happened to her cousin Charvel.
  • Raelle seeing the imprisoned Scylla after an episode of thinking she's dead. Especially heartbreaking as Raelle has literally been dragged to her prison cell in the dead of night, still in her pajamas, just to use her grief to torture her.
  • Tally reacting to Raelle and Abigail's apparent death in the season 1 finale.

Season 2

  • Anacostia seeing the newly aged Tally step of the helicopter, alone without her unit. Seeing one of her girls come back so clearly traumatized by a single combat mission for a mother to her troops type like Anacostia must be heartbreaking.
  • In the season 2 finale, the unit discovers that Penelope is the source of the Witchplague that is killing everybody on the base. They soon realize that the only option is to take her out.
    • To make it sadder, Penelope doesn't even know what's happening to her. Her last words are "Tally, please!" Whether she meant "Please make [Abigail and Raelle] stop hurting me" or she was begging for a Mercy Kill, she died in pain and scared.

Season 3

  • "Homo Cantus" ends with the main gang all being forced back on the run again because of a simple accident by Tally. What makes it worse is that Abigail and Raelle both willfully breached safety protocols and risked exposing the safe house, but Tally tried her best to follow all the rules, but still ended up being the one who unintentionally compromised the rest of the group. She takes it very hard.
  • After Raelle is swallowed up by the Mycelium Scylla makes multiple attempts to contact her. None of them work; Nicte even sabotages one. By the time the two are caught by the Marshal and reunited with the rest, Scylla breaks down when she has to admit she could not contact Raelle.
  • The death of Cadet Officer Lupe Cortez and the rest of her troop. They are ordered to attack Bearkiller's militia despite Lupe's insistence that they are outnumbered. The civilian officers start using their Magi Tech to Windstrike the troops, killing their own soldiers. A mortally wounded Lupe tells Abigail that she didn't feel any honor about dying in battle and it was All for Nothing. "Where are the heroes?"
  • "But I Don't Even Have A Dress": While Raelle and Scylla knew that they might never actually get married when they got engaged in the previous episode, when the reality of it sinks in once they're in custody, they can barely even look at each other.
