Tear Jerker / White Day: A Labyrinth Named School

White Day: A Labyrinth Named School is not without its sad moments.

  • Some of the ghost stories have their share of pain.
  • The reason Na-Yeong hung herself. She felt guilty for not being able to save Seong-Ah, to the point that she began to suffer from auditory hallucinations. And So-Yeong's the one to find her body.
  • There are notes to be found that imply that the murderous janitors are possessed, which is why they are at the school at night and so intent on beating a student's brains out. Especially with Ji-Hyeon mentioning that the janitors are actually quite nice during the daytime.
  • In the remake, if you get on So-Yeong's route, she admits to Hui-Min that she wants to help Na-Yeong move on and breaks down crying out of guilt, as she feels terrible for not being able to save her sister from suicide.
  • How Seong-Ah died. She was in the school when a fire started, trapping her in the home economics room. She succumbed to an asthma attack, and became a vengeful spirit as a result of her horrific passing. The recording that plays on the tape, as well as the voices in the labyrinth, drive home how terrified Seong-Ah was. You hear her crying and desperately calling for her mom and Na-Yeong to save her, but no one does.
  • Choi Eun-mi. Just... Eun-mi in general. Seong-Ah's mother was present when her daughter died in the fire, and the janitors prevented her from saving Seong-Ah even though she begged them to let her into the school. Eun-mi went insane with grief, and years later is still trying to get revenge for her child's death—which explains a lot of her violent, antagonistic behavior when she appears in the final levels. Granted, she does try to kill you, but you really can't blame her thanks to the reasoning behind it.
Eun-Mi: My child... I will always protect you.
  • When you beat the gym level, Eun-mi passes on for the final time. Hui-Min closes her eyes out of respect.
