  • When evacuating the Skrulls, poor Kamala is heartbroken when they are not able to save all of them.
    • As the ship takes off, we see the remaining Skrulls still running in terror in a futile attempt to escape. A somber but realistic reminder that even heroes don't always save everyone.
  • When Dar-Benn is pinned under debris, the trio try to convince her to stop her vengeful crusade and that they can work together to save Hala. She appears to agree, but when Carol frees her, she attacks them again since she hates Carol too much.
    • Dar-Benn in general is a surprisingly sad demonstration of how much a fascist state can warp those under it. From what is given, she was part of the Kree military prior to Carol destroying the Supreme Intelligence, which lead to a breakdown in Kree society and a civil war that wrecked Hala's ecosystem; based on Dar-Benn's comments, both in how she talks about Carol's actions and refers to the other side of the civil war as 'heretics', it's apparent she was on the side who remained loyal to the Supreme Intelligence and caused the fall of Hala, but has blamed Carol for it despite her actions ultimately freeing the Kree from a tyrant. Dar-Benn views Carol as having ruined the Kree, and fully, firmly believes she is just in seeking vengeance against her for what she did.
  • Carol not being fast enough to grab Monica before she gets stranded on the other side of a breach in dimensions.
    • Just the look on Carol's face. Not only has she lost her best friend, the equivalent to a sister in her eyes, but now also lost her best friend's daughter, Carol's god-niece, just after they made amends.
    • A shaken Kamala tells what happened to Monica to the normally stoic Fury, who is also noticeably saddened.
  • While the ending is treated as mostly happy, the Khan family is forced to pack up and move to the Rambeau home hundreds of miles away, leaving behind their friends, neighbors, and community.
  • The Stinger has Monica wake up in a hospital bed and crying at a woman who she assumes is her mother... only to find that's not the case, and she's now stuck in another dimension. Binary is kind enough, but is very weirded out to find a grown woman desperately calling her "Mom", unintentionally twisting the knife harder into Monica's heart. Even when it starts to get cleared up, Binary still eyes Monica warily and without a mother's love.
