Back to the main page.

All the sad moments that have happened over the course of the existence of Gaiden are listed below:

  • The monsters from Erdrea are shown despairing and crying from being tormented by Adam and the Crimson Fang.
  • In the past, there was a war between Emperor Bowser and Marcus Toadstool. The latter dies leaving Jade Toadstool, his wife, alone to raise their child. While she continued the war and won, she herself stated she'd mourn after the end. Even worse, her victory over Emperor Bowser had been All for Nothing as he would revive into Dry Bowser by her and her men's own doing.
  • After Tabuu's defeat, we see R.O.B. looking downtrodden, lamenting the loss of his kind. He's even the last one to leave.
  • The start of Esdeath's backstory was pretty heartwrenching, how she was the only survivor of her village from a Grimm attack.
  • Summer is having a hard time adjusting to her old home after she was taken from her family, especially when Yang and Ruby were little. So much so that she's brought to tears as a result.
  • Gloria broke into tears when she couldn't find her mother after the universe collapsed in on itself, making her think that Rosalina might have missed one and she didn't make it out okay. However, her mother arrived a few seconds later, as she had just gone to the grocery store.
  • Roy's abandonment issues get the better of him, causing him to lash out at Wendy, who then explains to his stepmother that Bowsette will never be his mother anymore, bringing Boosette to tears.
  • In a way, Captain Slime and Damian's friendship ended on a sad note. While the former decided to be a captain to the Slimes, Damian quickly rose to power and saw Slimes as pathetic weaklings, causing the two to drift apart.
  • Yang learns the truth about Raven and soon goes on a rant to Summer about all the things she did without her before she breaks down into tears and wonders why she left her in the first place, resulting in Summer giving her a comforting hug.
    • It gets even more tear-jerking when it's revealed Raven overheard the whole thing and is deeply ashamed of her actions and how it has hurt her own daughter. So much so, that she fled away in sadness and shame. Then in Gaiden, we see that the earlier confrontation with Summer haunted Raven so much, that she hadn't gotten much sleep for two weeks! Thank goodness, Goro Akechi decided to investigate upon seeing Raven's heavily disheveled state.
  • Mercury is forced into joining Dry Bowser and his group all while wondering what he's gotten himself into.
  • The origins of the one-eyed Shiny Charizard are very gut-wrenching. It has been through a lot of abuse from Pokémon Poachers throughout its life. Because of this, the Shiny Charizard hates humans with a passion and desires to protect any Pokémon from abuse by killing any humans it comes into contact with out of vengeance for its past abuse.
  • Seryu's backstory is finally revealed in Chapter 105 and it is heartbreaking. While she still had problems with racist humans, she was a noble member of the Winter Ops who was Childhood Friends with Sheele. However, when she attempts to stop a man from attacking a woman, she is knocked into a fire hydrant, which ends up giving her brain damage and drives her into a frenzy, utterly destroyed once she realizes what she just did. Once she's subdued, Esdeath wants to get her treatment, but Jacques has her shipped off to a mental hospital while bribing the other members of the council to ignore any attempts by Esdeath or Ironwood to have her removed. He then proceeded to visit Seryu every day and torment her, sending her completely off the deep end. By the time she burns the place to the ground, Sheele is left heartbroken that she and the other Winter Ops completely failed their friend.
  • Raven discovers that Maleficent not only has killed off all of the members of her tribe but also is Forced to Watch as she turns Vernal into a Heartless.
  • Kraid's situation in Chapter 113 as all he wanted to do was relax in peace away from the space pirates and then when he refused to help Dark Samus and Ridley, they infused him with Phazon. Then, when he was freed by Penny and Mikan, a short time later, he was abducted by Raven Beak, stuffed in a tube, and brought to ZDR.
  • Seryu's brain damage is revealed to be much more painful and tragic in Chapter 116, which is a crack in her skull. It gets even worse from there as this causes her to be haunted by so many voices in her head, to the point where she cannot sleep, suffers short-term memory loss, and feels the urge to end her life but can't bring herself to go through with it. After her talk with Umber, Seryu proceeds to break down, showing just how vulnerable she really is behind the psychotic mask she portrays on the outside. Ultimately, she ran away into the woods at the end of the chapter. She was also seen begging Sheele for help and wondering what she needed to do.
  • Despite Seryu finally getting her revenge, she recalls what Umber said and has a mental breakdown crying upon realizing she was right. She then sends a flare gun signal, knowing Sheele will come. Sheele sees and goes after her without hesitation, wanting to save her best friend before it's too late.
    • In the same chapter it's revealed that Jacques killed her parents, leaving her an orphan.
  • Chapter 131 ends with Roxas and Pence encountering Vernal's Nobody after she had been corrupted by Maleficent.
  • All of Chapter 132 with Chaos Ruby furiously blaming Merlon and Merlumina for what happened to her to the point that she burns the Light Prognsticus and burns down Merlon's home which Merlon says is due to the Chaos Heart and Dimentio.
  • Chapter 145 shows how Oran lost his home and parents.
  • Chapter 146:
    • Mukuro shows guilt for her time as Ultimate Despair as well as her heartbreak when she learns of Makoto's mutual feelings for Kyoko.
    • While not shown until Chapter 149, it is revealed that a revived Sayaka is also too ashamed to see Makoto, being guilt-ridden over trying to frame him during the events of the Killing School Life and hiding out in Inkopolis.
  • Chapter 157 ends with Velvet being traumatized after a terrifying encounter with the infamous Savage Deviljho.
  • In Chapter 160, Chaos Ruby falls into despair when Ruby temporarily dies from Grimm Ruby's torture, this ultimately causes Chaos Ruby to swear revenge against Ozpin.
    • What makes it worse is that Ruby almost got through to her paper counterpart. In fact, Chaos Ruby was actually happy to learn that a version of her couldn't be broken. But losing her connection to Ruby made her lose it.
  • In Chapter 171, Gloria has been suffering from nightmares where she destroys everything as Primal Groudon. This shows Gloria is afraid of losing control if Marnie is not around to calm her down.
  • In Chapter 186, Junko requests Bowser to kill her if she ever relapses, Bowser folds his arms and says "Mmm… I'll do it, but I don't think I'm gonna like it."
  • The majority of Chapter 189 where Nick tells about his sister's tragic past as a victim of both bullying and Faunus racism back when the twins were in the first grade along with their friends.
  • Colress being brainwashed by Ghetsis using a special device to help him build his things for his attempt to separate human and Pokémon bonds. Luckily, he's freed by Cresselia who negates Darkrai's Dark Void and then Colress stops by the Smash Mansion on Professor Kukui's advice and recruits Lucario, Greninja, and Incineroar to help him stop Ghetsis.
  • In Chapter 207, SAPR discovers her past as R3-B7 and is left horrified by what she did, as well as upset over everyone keeping that from her.
  • In Chapter 216, Chaos Ruby loses both her weapon and five of her beloved Pokémon to Magog, leaving her begging for Ruby and Chiaki to finally save her.
  • Jade calling out Myra for not doing anything about Viola until it was too late and after King Boo had killed Jade's parents. What's more is that Myra agrees with Jade.
  • In Chapter 259, Twilight Chiaki's version of Remnant faces a somber end. Being wiped out without anybody on the planet knowing why and not even realizing their incoming death. Also saddening to see a genuinely good version of Jacques perishing just for trying to protect his daughter, Weiss, Twilight's reason for destroying Remnant, and dying in vain.
  • In Chapter 260, Pyrrha says that whenever she tries to hold the weapons Luminary made for her, she's reminded of her metal form and sometimes she feels her semblance pulling her towards them and she doesn't know if she wants to touch her weapons ever again and sometimes she thinks her Fire Brand may be too much for her as well.
  • In Chapter 261, Chiaki repeatedly pummeling Sandbag which has a picture of Twilight Chiaki on him and she's not wearing gloves, covering Sandbag in soft, pink blood because she's extremely agitated over current events and was wailing on Sandbag… and it seems as if her agitation was not slowing down. It gets to the point where fellow gym goers like Little Mac, Falcon, Terry, Samus, Wii Fit Trainer, Daisy, Tifa, and Incineroar and even her cheerleaders BB-8 and Elfilin are very concerned for her.
