Tear Jerker / Shadowdance Trilogy

• Zusa goes through a huge amount of breaking in A Dance Of Ghosts, including essentially being dismissed by Alyssa after saving her life countless amounts of times.
• Haern breaks too after having a freak out moment and brutally murdering Ghost in the same book. Delysia leaves him and won't speak to him, he gets no information at all from Luther, and in his absence the Sun Guild has utterly taken over Veldaren. He and Zusa meet at the end, and what should have had shippers crying for joy is instead written as a horribly tragic Despair Event Horizon moment for the both of them.
