Tear Jerker / House and Powers of X

• House of X #2 serves as a kind of Villian Origin episode as it shows how Moira ends up falling deeper and deeper into despair from her condition, taking up worse and worse positions and they ALL fail.
  • Her 1st life was the peaceful, normal one where she never needed to worry about mutantkind and lived an ordinary, happy life.
  • Her 2nd life, she just wanted to meet Professor X to see if she actually was a mutant, and ended up dying in plane crash.
  • Her 3rd life she was repulsed by Charles's façade, and tried to create a mutant cure. And when Destiny threatened and coerced her to do better in her next life, her final punishment for this one was death by slow burning.
  • Her 4th life was perhaps her best life, living the equivalent of continuity right alongside Charles. But that included Days of Future Past and she died to the sentinels.
  • Her 5th life she tried to live an isolationist life on genosha, but mankind couldn't leave them alone, and she died to the robots.
  • Her 6th life (not shown in House of X #2 but a later Powers comic) she decided to live as long as possible, and discovered that mankind in sheer spite decided to use machines to cheat evolution to outclass mutants. And thus, she saw that they could never "outpace" humanity naturally.
  • Her 7th life, she tried to assassinate the entire Trask family to prevent any sentinels from naturally occurring, but learned that someone would always inevitably create them.
  • Her 8th life, she truly fell to despair and took up with Magneto to try and dominate humanity his way. Only..the X-men and Avengers would always be there to stop that path, and she died in prison.
  • Her 9th life, she joined with Apocalypse, using his rhetoric of survival of the fittest through genocide as a Hail Mary philosophy to keep mutants going. And in the war with the sentinals hundreds of years later, they STILL lose.

• From Powers of X #6, there's something heartbreaking seeing how Moira identifies how good hearted Professor X is, and how he always will look to do right by humans and mutants in ALL her timelines. And that for the sake of "survival" in her possibly last life, she has to destroy that part of him. It's heartbreaking to see here Hickman bring Charles's dream crashing down yet again.
