Tear Jerker / Heroic Myth

Go To

The story of a hero more often than not includes tragedy.

  • After Bell becomes a Master, he sometimes sees the memories of his Servants in his dreams.
    • The first is Archer's. It is his iconic trek through the aftermath of the Fuyuki Fire.
    • Next is Assassin's, which showcases how each of the lives of all the children that make up the Servant died: hungry, cold, and alone. This causes Bell to cry in his sleep so much that the others try to wake him up.
    • Caster's shows the day his best friend died.
    • Berserker's is the horrible life he lived after being forced to live in the Labyrinth. It ends with him being consoled by the hero who finally slew him.
    • Rider's shows how her daughters were defiled, and the path she took in retaliation.
    • Mixed with heartwarming, Lancer's shows her when she was imprisoned and lamenting that the person who will free her will also be ruined because her.
  • When Ais learns that Archer, Caster, and Saber are spirits, she asks them if they know her mother, and is heartbroken when they say they have never met her. She is likewise heartbroken when Argonaut says he never met her father, though he at least promises to try to find him in the Throne of Heroes.
  • Lefiya shows her desperation in saving her friend after Gil badly wounds Filvis.
  • Haruhime tells Bell, Syr, Lefiya, and Jack that she isn't worth saving after they ask if she wants to leave with them.
