Heartwarming / Heroic Myth

Go To

When you have a tale about heroes, there's going to be plenty of touching and adorable moments.

  • The fic's Hestia Familia in general.
    • While it was rewarding that the canon Hestia Familia gets their members, there's something really gratifying to see Bell and Hestia, who more or less got abandoned by the world and only had each other, get a lot of bones (Heroic Spirits) dropped for them.
    • Then there's the Heroic Spirit's newfound lease on life. Assassin(Jack) finally has a mommy that completely adores her, Sigurd(Saber) and Brynhildr(Lancer) can live as a married couple, Boudica(Rider) is able to relive motherhood by looking after the younger members of the Hestia Familia and Asterios(Berserker) gets a chance to finally live at the outside world other than a maze.
  • Caster can be a sweet guy even if he won't admit it and will probably cut our tongues if we let that secret loose.
    • His relationship with Lily is among his best. He protects her from her asshole Familia members and went as far to help her get out of the group. It leaves little wonder why Lily is so devoted to him and it's heavily implied she basically sees him as a father figure, something Soma failed to live up to.
    • Later chapters reveal that Gilgamesh, when he's not doing business, visits the Goddess Ninsun and Lugal Banda, alternate versions of his parents. Granted, they might not be the actual parents, but it shows just how much Gil has fondness for the one who birthed him to life.
    • Later, the others find out he has become a major patron of Ninsun's milk business.
  • Crossing with Tearjerker, Bell witnesses in his dreams Jack's past and based on Jack's point-of-view, the boy was horrified what happened to the kid and tries desperately to save her. Once he wakes up, Bell instantly embraces Jack into a Cooldown Hug and says these beautiful words to her.
    Bell: Thank you…for being born.
  • Ever since Rider showed up, she has become a Parental Substitute for the youngest members of her Familia.
  • Sigurd and Brynhildr is this and hysterical. Sure, they can be quite hammy when they start drooling over each other but that's because they haven't seen each other for a long time and that's great for this loving couple.
  • Emma comforting Bell after he trains at night. Considering what he saw in Melen, he really needed it.
  • Argonaut as a whole. When the situations in his world turn bleak, Argonaut is there to cheer everyone up.
    • After Argonaut runs away, Tiona runs after him, telling him about how his story changed her life.
Tiona: Argonaut! I want to say that your story definitely helped me! It made me smile when I didn't know what to do with myself! It gave me the resolve to keep on smiling for myself and those that couldn't!
Argonaut: If that is true then everything I did was worth it in the end!
    • Related to him, Argonaut tells Ais about the existence of the Throne of Heroes, where every hero that ever existed goes to after their death. If you know who her father is, then it makes sense why becoming a hero worthy of going there is now her goal.
    • As Argonaut is about to return the control of Bell's body, he promises Ais that he will try to find her father and tell him about her.
  • Bell wanting to do something nice for Archer by cooking him a meal.
  • Emma shows she's a Shipper on Deck for Bell and Ais.
  • When Lily is hurt by the black twisters, Gilgamesh decides that he needs to unleash his anger on those who would bring her harm.
  • When Bell and a few others visit Primo's old home and learn that the reason she left for Orario was because her mother, her only family in the world, died, they all immediately comfort her.
  • There's something endearing about Berserker playing with children despite common knowledge in this world that Minotaurs are not the kind to mess with.
  • Then there's Lefiya and Mord encouraging Asterios to help them in stopping the twisters.
  • Fia asks the Hestia Familia to help get her Xenos brethren out of the Dungeon and they agree. Berserker, who cannot enter the Dungeon without triggering swarms of monsters, asks Bell to help Fia's friends.
  • Welf, who hates making magic swords, decides the Xenos are more important than his grudge and says he is willing to start making and selling them to help fund their efforts to help the Xenos.
  • When Caster inquires Ryuu if she thinks that he and the rest of the Hestia Familia are part of Evilus, Ryuu quickly denounces it believing full-heartedly that Bell is too pure to ever be part of such a vile organisation.
  • Archer and Berserker enter the Labyrinth to help Loki Familia, but when Berserker detects Xenos in trouble, Archer says they should help them first. Berserker is amazed that someone would prioritize monsters over humans, then decides they should split up so they can help both.
  • Berserker is tempted by the spirits of the deceased Xenos to slaughter the humans to avenge them but once he sees a still-alive siren Xenos, he immediately brushes them off and take the siren to safety. Like with Kiritsugu, Berserker found someone that saved him from damnation.
  • In order to prevent the siren he saved and the Loki Familia members that are with him from being hurt by him due to being under the effects of a curse that drives him berserk, Berserker destroys the the floor beneath their feet.
    …Run… Get…away…
    • Afterwards, the Loki Familia members decide to take the siren with them and look after her until they can get in touch with Hestia Familia.
  • Caster respects Gareth enough to give him his axe to defend himself when Gareth loses his weapon and they get attacked, though he quickly says he wants it back when they are done.
  • Primo looks after the injured Emma after the battle with the Juggernauts.
  • Bell is conflicted because Caster told him not to help Sanjouno Haruhime since she doesn't want to be helped. He tells of his troubles to Hermes, who asks if Bell agrees that she doesn't deserve to be saved. When he says no, Hermes says, "Then there's your answer." Argonaut in Bell's head adds that Ariadne refused his help too, but he tried to save her anyway.
  • When Bell dreams of Lancer's life, he sees how Saber saved her, regardless of the prophecy that says this will result in both of their lives ultimately being ruined.
Even though their love would never last. Even though both were aware of the ruin that awaited them. Whatever regrets that awaited them…even when their bodies were enveloped in her blue flame.
The Hero would never regret saving the Spirit.
The Spirit would never regret loving the Hero.
  • When Bell approaches Fia about his decision on whether or not to save Haruhime, she tells him that she already knows what he's going to do.
Fia: I knew you'd do it. After all, if you weren't the type of person to save everyone and anyone in trouble…you wouldn't have saved me, right?
Bell: [takes Fia's wing into his hand to his forehead] Thank you.
Fia: Silly Bell, that's what I should be saying to you [smiles] But don't ever apologize for wanting to help people, okay? That's what I love best about you after all!

Omakes

  • When the Hestia Familia is asked what they think of Bell, all of their responses, even Gilgamesh's, indicate how much they care about and respect him. In Lily's, Fia's, and Emma's case, he's their Hope Bringer.
Hestia: My number one, most precious Child!
Archer: He’s a good kid, but I can’t help but worry about his future.
Caster: The mongrel’s dreams are beyond him, but it is fine for him to chase after them regardless.
Lily: Someone Lily can’t ever leave alone and has to look after.
Saber: Someone worthy of being called Master.
Assassin: Our precious Mommy who We love very much!
Primo: Someone we can look up to!
Emma: Our Familia’s hopes, dreams, and future. Our “Argonaut.”
Gina: Our Familia Vice Captain. He may not look reliable but he works very hard.
Lancer: A kind and loving Master.
Rider: A good child who will always do the right thing even if it hurts him.
Fia: Someone who can get people to hope again.
Berserker: Strong and kind. Like that person.
Welf: My first customer and best bud. I’ll pick him up no matter how many times he falls over.
  • Similarly, all of Bell's comments for the Hestia Familia are equally sugary sweet, as he respects them just as much.
(about Hestia) Our Familia goddess and the one I respect and worship more than anything in the world.
(about Archer) My savior, my dreams, my ideal. My hero.
(about Caster) The king who looks after us and will protect us, no matter the cost.
(about Lily) A reliable friend and someone who can tell me what I’m doing wrong.
(about Saber) My teacher who believes in me.
(about Assassin) Someone who I am thankful is here and worthy of love, no matter what anyone else says.
(about Primo) More reliable than she thinks she is.
(about Emma) Someone who we can all trust, although I wish she wouldn’t tease me so much.
(about Gina) A friendly girl who I am glad wanted to join us.
(about Lancer) A quiet person who doesn’t speak her mind unless she feels that she must.
(about Rider) Someone who is as loving as she is scary. Like a mom, I guess.
(about Fia) I will make her dreams come true. For her and all Xenos.
(about Berserker) Looks and can be very scary when mad but someone you can count on.
(about Welf) My Best Friend and someone I can talk to. Someone who's got my back no matter what.
  • In the Christmas Special, the Hestia Familia exchanges Christmas gifts with each other. Most notable includes:
    • Berserker and Karen gave Primo and Gina stuffed toys(minotaur plush and teddy bear)
    • Primo gives Caster a mug. While he doesn't say it, his easy acceptance of the gift is more than enough to tell that he appreciates it.
    • Bell and Emma exchange gifts; Bell receives a story book while Emma receives hair clips.
