• The revelation in the 33rd issue that Hawk was only dreaming about living in retirement with his wife after his fellow Joes assured him that Cobra's days were numbered, made all the more tragic by a Wham Shot focusing on a newspaper article revealing that the woman Hawk dreamed he was married to had died when they were engaged years ago.
• In America's Elite, T'Jbang turns out to be possessed by the Red Ninja leader Sei Tin, who used a special technique to take over T'Jbang's body while trapping T'Jbang's conscience in Sei Tin's dying body. When Storm Shadow realizes what's happening, he notes that it might not be possible to reverse the process, resulting in tears streaming down the face of the dying body T'Jbang is trapped in.
